What are the valve sizes and ccs on these c9ve-a? I am sure that these are way more performance minded than my d3ve I have now. I just wonder if they compare to d0ve heads since they are only a year different.
Thanks Andy
The valves are the same size as the D3VE heads. The D3VE heads have a 97cc combustion chamber and the C9VE and D0VE have 72cc Combustion chambers. The D3VE heads probably have hardened valve seats for unleaded fuel, whereas the C9VE and D0VE heads do not. The exhaust seats won't last a whole long time unless you run lead additive or have hardened seats installed, which I heard was expensive.
Thanks lx I think I can get a deal on em for a future project. Just needed to know they would up the compresion. They dont have the junk smog bumps I ground out of the d3s do they?
My 2 sets of D0VE heads had the bumps in them. Your compression will go up between 1 and 1.5 points with these heads. The C8,C9 and D0VE heads have 76cc chambers not 72cc and the D3VE heads have between 95-97cc. It cost me $130 to have hard seats installed in my D0VE's, not too much concidering I'd either have to use lead additive with every tank of gas or risk wrecking the heads by running unleaded fuel.
I have a set of C9VE-A heads on my engine. They are made with the notorious bumps in the exhaust that must be ground out if you want to improve flow. I have been running these heads about 4 years now with hardened valve seats - on unleaded with no additives. No problems. I was concerned about this and posted this question here. The concenses was if your heads are off install the seats otherwise don't worry about them. Many older engines/heads built for leaded gas are still running today without hardened valve seats.

OOOPs Typo on the 72cc thing. If the heads are off and you are going to have them professionally checked at a machine shop anyway, right??? Then go ahead and have the hardened seats installed. It will save you in the long run!!
Yep, if you are having the heads checked anyway, have them installed for peace of mind. While you are at it, have them cut for larger exhaust valves. Since they are cutting for the hard seats, it saves a step and cost by having them cut for the larger valves (1.74").
