Those are cool.. I wonder how they would work on a mud racer. Would mud and rocks get caught in the gaps?

Pretty cool. I think they have been trying to develop those for the military for years. I expect they are getting really close. It would be nice to have those for our Trucks / Jeeps. However, there must be a ton of handling, load, and air down issues that they would need to address.

I like the deformable wheel idea. It might give us even better rides than what we experience these days if they can pull it off.

I was thinking that the more thing change, the more they stay the same. If you will look at an early truck (WW1 and older) the tires were the same. They had a steel rim with the tread bolted on, and wooden spokes.

Na, but Henry did make some farm implements. It was Studebaker that made the wagons.

btw, did you know the suspension on the Concord Stages was such to help pull the stage out of a pot hole - provided they were going fast enough. It is the same suspension used on the SUVs. . . . .

So this deformable wheel. Is this what gives under torque of accelleration and braking? It makes sense to do this to avoid breaking traction.
Is this its function? Kinda like dragster tires?

I can see how that might help in that area as well. ***** B know of anymore write ups on the issue.

BTW - For those that are interested I saw a great article on AT/MT tires in the Jan mag "4X4 Garage" (publisher is same as FOUR WHEELER)

I bought my Genereal AT2's after reading that article and they work great in everything I can throw at em. Cheap too !!!!

I like them so much I'm thinking of going to a taller tire for my JEEP and throwing the ones I have on the F100.
