help with cams

I'm sure the book probably covers everything, but I will mention the most important thing, keeps those rev's above 2000 for the first 20 mins. or so to break it in. Outside of that the only other thing I can think of is to make sure your timing cover, timing chain set, and fuel pump eccentric are compatable as there is a 2 peice or 1 pc. option on the eccentric and the other parts must match. And probably already mentioned and obvious but you need new lifters for the new cam , but I'm in the middle of posting this and can't go back to check.

Thanks again. Well I have a holley electric pump, I think the eccentric will be fine. I guess I should have said this but do I really need a dial gauge so check if I need shims, and i'm thinking of replacing my chain with a gear drive. just going to go with the Jegs brand gears. And I'm getting new lifters, but again the big thing is will I need to shim this cam, I had the engine rebuilt about 2 years ago. When I pull the old cam out and there are shims should I put them back with the new cam? thanks

If the crank has been cut more than .030 I would stay away from it but like I said it has a warranty. I would also open the mains and connecting rods check oil clearances, and retorque everything just too be sure with a cut crank. Make sure you get the long block then. Some guys here may be able to chime i as to what year would be best for head casting
