good price of Napa 6637
My truck came with a 6637 on it from the previous owner so i have no idea what they go for new. Anyway a friend of mine had asked about mine so i told him the part number and sent him off to the parts store. he called me a little later from the parts counter at Napa and they were wanting $62 plus tax for the filter. Yikes!!! I know its a big one but that sounds a little bit much. he left the parts store empty handed so i told him i would find out whats a good price for a 6637 and where is a good place to pick one up.
I've heard some people talk about getting them for $25. is that true? where can he get one for that price?

this Napa happens to be the closest one to my house and they have been notoriously over priced on everything since I've started going there 20 years ago. In order for me to buy something from this place, it has to be a last resort. I'm going to call my friend who is a fleet mechanic and has an account with them and find out what his discount is. is there another brand filter that i can cross-reference with 6637?

the retail price at the NAPA that I work at is about $48. like Neal said you can say that you are an AAA member and get a discount. but you really need to be able to show your card to the counterman. on average the AAA discount is 7%, but some items there wont be any discount and on some it will be much greater.

most napa stores retial them about 45-50 I know the guy that runs the local Napa store real well and he showed me the store price (what corp charges the stores not what napa corperation pays for them) and htat price was $32. the $25 ones your hearing about are coming from fleet filters http://www.fleetfilter.com/index.asp

Baldwin PA2818 is what I have. It looks the same as the expensive one you all are using but I only paid like 20 bucks I think for it. I got it from a place that only sells filters and oil here for big trucks. Napa costs too much here too.
The only thing different I noticed about the 2818 is the flange where you clamp it is rather hard but not too hard to clamp on with a good constant torque type clamp. It has the steel mesh outside and is very durable. I'm getting another one today and I'm going to sew up some kind of sock for it to prefilter the bugs and dust I think. It's really dusty here in west Texas!
