You have a cali truck.
Along with the fuel line you need seals for the lines and crush washers for the banjo bolt on fuel pump. Along with turbo o-rings.

F4TZ-9C387-A ---2 pcs needed.
F4TZ-9A375-A ---2 pcs needed.
Turbo 0-rings --2 rings--Part #?
I just ordered do to i have to change my pump also.
Remove your FPR mod. You allready have the higher fuel pressure.
Also check above posts for your 1395 code. (possible VC connector)

no need to remove your turbo even with a cali truck. Bill has to since he has a van but with the truck I have heard of many that just hit the dampner with a chisel or punch and it spins right off then you can do the pump just as you would normally without removing the turbo.

Also my thinking with this not being a fuel issue is how immediately it started. even idling it was missing which unless it pulled a bunch of air it would be a low power issue but even low pressure as long as there was fuel being delivered it would run fine at idle. But I have been wrong one other time so maybe this will be the second!! LOL

Help me out here....I don't know what you mean by the dampner.

When I pulled the air tubes off I couldn't see any way to get to that big nut without taking off the turbo. I really don't want to take off the turbo.

The dampner is the disc shaped thing that makes it impossible to get to the banjo bolt on the back of the pump. it dampens the pulses of fuel pressure coming out of the pump. once the dampner is out of the way you can get an 1 1/4 wrench in there to get to the banjo bolt with out removing the turbo.

Gotcha, I know what you are talking about, it's that flat saucer looking thingy that's in the way of that big nut. Just what does that dampner thread into, do you know?

I sure would like a photo of the area minus the dampner.

Mucho thanks my friend.

The dampner threads into the fuel lines going to the rear of the head. Maybe I can hunt down a pic

Tim

Thats the problem. Damper is part of fuel manifold assembly.
The banjo bolt goes threw the damper assembly. It makes it a PITA.
49 state and cali are not the same pump. (cali is all 3/8 lines)(49 is 3/8 and 5/16 lines?)

Its said it can be done without pulling.
I have allway's pulled the turbo. Job goes faster with removal.
PITA is also the 3 hoses.

I agree, those hoses really look like a PITA. In fact this whole job fits the discription of a Huge PITA. Probably a good time to replace all of the hoses anyway. It would sure ruin your day to have to pull all of that crap just to replace that lower hose.

I'll probably end up pulling the Turbo. What I need is a 20 year old that just can't wait to tear this truck apart (with a wrench that is)

Advise also is to bump the motor to push out the pump. This way you will not drop the fuel pump lifter into the motor.

Question (no hyjack)
Cali and 49 state pumps were not interchangeable. Have they become one pump? I can only find one part#. Carter only shows one. Must now be combined as one?

Loosing my mind

Bill I have never found two listings for the fuel pump when looking it up nor asked about it when I called Ford. I will call them today and see if there are two listings.

Edit- Just looked at Rock Auto and Powerstrokeshop.com and they both only have one listing for the pump. Rock auto also now has an airtex and bosch brand pumps with the carter. must be they decided to get into the game as well. which is news to me.

Kawa, i couldn't find any pics with the damper removed.
