If you know the part number, it'll help you find the correct part.
The parts catalog will also tell you what other yrs/models the part will fit.

Hotwrench,
I think if you changed the camshaft in the 351W it would be a totally different story.
I've driven many old medium duty trucks. The 300 I-6 still is underpowered in a heavy truck. Our 65 M-350 with the 300/4spd and 5.13:1 gears still has to shift if you hit a hill. We have a little valley near our farm and with 5000 lbs of grain, you have to drop it into 3rd with the pedal to the floor. You started out at 50 mph and you'll be doing 35 mph coming up the other side. While our 76 Dodge D-600 with the 318/5spd and 5.83/8.1 gears. It will pull the same hill in short 4th and in high range carrying 9000 lbs doing 40 mph.
As far as fuel mileage with a FT engine out 69 C-760 (361 FT) will do maybe 5 mpg carrying 10000 lbs. It can move the load with ease but it will drink twice the fuel the little 318 does. The Dodge can run all day on a tank but the Ford will take two.
As far as worst underpowered medium duty trucks I've driven here's my list:
1. 65 Mercury M-500 330 FT/4spd - Took like 5 miles to hit 50 mph
2. 80 Chev C-60 350/5 spd
3. 79 Chev C-60 350/5 spd
4. 78 Chev C-60 366/5 spd
5. 65 M-350 300/4spd
6. 76 Dodge D-600 318/5spd
7. 69 Ford C-760 361FT/5spd

It`s a new member posting here instead of the 1967 - 1972 F-100 & Larger F-Series Trucks: 1967 - 1972 F-100 & Larger F-Series Trucks - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
I`ll see if I can get someone to move it there.

When I saw this post pop back up two thoughts crossed my mind. First, either Kevin is free, or, second, they finally gave prisoners access to the internet.
