magnaflow vs. hooker aero chamber?

That sounds like a personal choice, one that sounds good to you might be crappy sounding to me besides different motor combinations and how it's piped will change the sound and loudness.
Without getting into a proof of facts pissing war this is what I found in my old notes, I do not know who did the testing I recall it was a neutral shop so no brand name flavors.
All tests were done with 2 1/2" in / out mufflers done on a SuperFlow 110 bench @ 5 inches water. Take caution when reading other posts on flow numbers as some use 28 inches water creating super high numbers, seems there isn't a set standard everyone follows in the muffler business.
This is what I have notes on tested at 5 inches water:
Spintech Truck RV.....................165 cfm
Hooker Aerochamber..................145 cfm
Dynomax Turbo.........................135 cfm
FlowMaster 40 series..................115 cfm
FlowMaster 50 series....................90 cfm
-----------------------------------------
Stepping up to louder street mufflers, higher drone resonance problems come with these:
Spintech Sportsman Street...........170 cfm
Sportsman SuperCharger Street.....175 cfm
Spintch Pro Street.......................180 cfm
Borla.........................................180 cfm
Borla has a straight thru design, I have this on a 4.6 liter Landrover Discovery 5-speed. It sounds like a 289 with glasspacks with a small drone zone at 2,200 rpms right at the 64 mph cruise zone.
On my truck I purchased Edelbrock RPM's then went thru 5 free different brands of mufflers from take-offs from a friends muffler shop. I ended up with Spintech Truck RV mufflers. The Truck RV's have the longest body length, this with 2 1/2" exhaust, X cross to 3" to 4 1/2", this would bark hence baffles shoved into the tips to tone down bark and the 1,700 rpm drone zone.
The Edelbrock RPM series are stainless lifetime flow thru mufflers, OMG your eardrums would chatter at the 1,700 rpm zone causing ears to ring after a drive. Great for setting off car alarms and returning the cool BOOM BOOM tribal noise back to the vehicles it comes from.
My $.02.
