41 ford dump truck

Greg, welcome to FTE, hope you find what you need on this site.
Now to your question, that all depends. What is the condition of the current dump bed? If it is really rough, as many dump beds are, then it may just make more sense to convert to flatbed. Also to ask is what are your intentions with the truck? If you want to move items around other than dirt and gravel, then the flatbed makes sense. The big trucks seem rare now since so many are already gone. They have a limited collector market, though, as the half and 1 ton trucks are much more practical in most traffic now.
A bit of history on the '41 dumps. You could purchase, through Ford, a fully outfitted dump truck. The dump body was either a GarWood or a Galion Allsteel body. The dump chassis was known as 11U for the 221 CID flathead, 19U for the 239 V8, or the 1GU for the flathead six models.

I need advice?! I have a 1941 Ford dump truck, not sure if it is a 1 ton or 1 1/2 ton, but it is the shorter 122" wheel base dually. It was converted to 12 volt and has a 1953 Mercury flat head motor. The dump body is a Garwood. I also have a second 1940 dump truck for parts that has a galion dump body with the rounded bottom edges. Which dump body should I put on the 1941? The one I do not use might be transformed into a dump trailer. I kind of like the looks of the Galion.

My '46 tonner chassis was a dump bed 122" WB truck as well. Mine didn't come with anything, but the mount for the cylinders is still welded to the frame. If it's possible, I'd sure like to get the specs/dimensions/etc... of the cylinders, pump, and bed size in case I put one back on it?
Thanks in advance.
PS: my '1950 F6 had a Gallion 3yd dump bed on it, too. It was pretty neat.

I'm going to put a GarWood dump on my 46 1.5 ton 134" wheelbase truck. The dump is from a 47 parts truck. I also plan on using the vacuum 2 speed axle and the vacuum brake booster. I think these trucks look cool with the dump body. Do a Google search of Gar Wood and you'll see he was a pretty interesting guy. Just my 2 cents. Post some pics of your project.
