Ooooh, gooodie!!!! Telescoping gauges are one of the few tools I DON'T have!! Justification, that's just what I needed!
Thanks for the info. I know there's some taper, because on the front cylinder, I noticed the ridge is a bit bigger on the front of the cylinder than the side. So I am assuming a little "out of round".
If I tear into this TOO much, I will rebuild all the way. Just the way I am, I guess. I'll take some measures, and decide if I want to bolt together and run, or bustanut doing it right...
Thanks, again!

I inherited a "cylinder gauge" by Starett from my father, it's the real hot ticket for measuring cylinders. But it ain't cheap!!! Telescope gauges will work fine.
The only reason I even mention the "good enough" approach is that the pistons aren't going to be cheap. There has been much discussion on flathead boards about whose pistons are best, too; most like Ross, some have had issues with Egge. You'll undoubtedly be able to find an OEM Ford set on eBay. Check around!

Hey Roger, I cleaned out the 53 panel. I got to lookin at it, I was goin to try to turn the engine over and I noticed there is a rod poking out of the oil pan!! Of course you said you just wanted them for "parts" but I wanted to check with ya before I yanked them as it is alot of trouble to pull it, and if you don't want them, maybe you might just want to come down and get some parts off of them?
