Explorer 1997 air con

After purchasing a 1997 Ford Explorer in really good condition, i have experienced a couple of problems. The air-con is permanenlty on, this may be due to the air selection switch being broken. I have another switch coming, but in the mean time I would like to pull the air-con fuse. The German handbook says that M1 should be for the air-con. When I pulled it the power to the air-bag circuit was cut. I have read the thread to rectify this problem, 256 turns of the key. I am at 126! Can anyone let me know the correct fuse for the air-con?

Can't you just disconnect the wire at the compressor?

 

German Handbook, ouch. Don't know if it will help but for '97 Mountaineer it is fuse 18 (at the fuse block under dash on driver side). Upper left is #1, for #18 go to the 5th row down then 2nd position to the right. It is a 15 amp fuse.
