Sure, I too had nothing bad to say about my 2008 6.4L until I added up my fuel bills. Just wait until you try to tow something with it and learn that your 38 gallon tank is bone dry in less than 300 miles!
Here we go again, 6.0 bashing & flaming. Well I do like to new 08 SD but I'll keep my 1/2/03 until the warranty that I paid for (yea, I have the pink slip for my 03) expires.
Why brag about having a pink slip????? Big deal. Who cares. I have the pink on my 08, it doesn't mean nothing.

The point that I made, which you evidently did not comprehend, was that the 6.0 is not a POS. It's the folks that over-tune them that make them IMO a POS. I suggest that you read the folks that are having problems with the new PSD and I'll bet that they have a tuner, and that those folks are bashing and flaming the new PSD. So why invest a substantial amount of money in a truck that has a 5/100 warranty to only keep it for 2-3 years to buy a new one and waste half of your investment? There will always be 6.0 bashers out there that have most likely never own one or have had theirs mega-tuned, or just plain run them to the ground without any proper maintenace, and just like to talk from their gluteus maxus and not from experience. I'll stop at this point. I'd rather not hijack the thread.
I love my Truck. I have a F250 2WD to tow my 34ft. 5th wheel tt. The only complaint I have is the MPG towing and without. I have not used any fuel additives and I am thinking about doing so. That has been the only down side to date.
We ordered our first Ford yesterday, after having a Dodge gaser, and a Chevy Duramax. We went for the big time and ordered a 2008 350 Lariat 6.4. Today we went to a parade and saw all three types of these trucks, and in my opinion, the Ford looked the best. It will be tough to wait for it.
Well, I do understand your point, friend. Most valuable uses of time, on a site like this one, might be to discuss problems with our rigs and how to deal with them. However, I really have been enjoying this thead. It is super nice to see that the new 6.4 did not start out with the rought start that the 6.0 did. The early problems of the 6.0 have taken their toll (unfaily I think) on the reputation of the 6.0 engine. It is a reputation that that engine will probably never live down. Too bad, sour tastes don't just go away after sipping honey. Oh well...
At least it appears that the 6.4 will not suffer the same reputational demise.
Anyway, I have been enjoying this thread. I had a hard time getting use to the front end of the new Super Duty, but after reading this thread, I think I could learn to love it.
This post was about guys who were satisfied with there 08,Maybe its time to get back on the subject. I'M STILL HAPPY WITH MINE.
Sure, there are many good things to say about the 6.4L and I could make fair list of them myself. However, it is nearly impossible for those of us who regularly tow a heavy load with it to ignore the fuel mileage issue. It's sort of like admiring everything about a beautiful young woman only to discover she can speak in only one-syllable words. The fuel mileage issue with the 6.4L is gathering considerable steam so if Ford doesn't get right on top of it with a fix (probably just a computer flash) they just might find themselves with another 6.0L on their hands. I would really hate that because you can bet Toyota is watching this new Ford truck with keen interest. That's all we would need for our balance of payments a Tundra 350 which copies all the good parts of the F350 and redesigns only the bad ones.
I tow heavy all of the time, and yes I would like to get better mpg, but it is pretty close to what I expected and in no way detracts from a fine truck as far as I am concerned.
