Rust

I have a 97 and was wondering how much rust others trucks have. I live in michigan an some counties really drop the salt down in the winter. If you have rust, where is it. How is everyones door seams holding up. If you live in the north and your truck is not rusty, how often do you wash your truck. Thanks

My truck only has surface rust on the frame. I work around salt water but no body rust, just surface rust on the frame and tail pipes. I wash it maybe once a month through the automatic car washer.

I have bad rust happening on my left front quarterpanel of the bed and also my passenger side rear door is starting to rust through. My door seams are pretty bad too. It wouldn't be a ford if it didn't rust out!

I had one of those systems put on my truck the day I bought it brand new.
No.. they don't work.
My right rear passenger door is rusting out on the under side of the door right at the seam.

How many of you had your truck undercoated, mine isn't. There was a time a few years ago auto manufactures were saying there was no need for undercoating due to their manufacturing process. I'm starting to wish I undercoated because seams on the underside are beginning to rust and in my mind that is the beginning of the end. Not every seam has rusted but a few, I'd like to get rid it before it gets too bad.

yeah i imagine my under body is beginning to rust....but i am not to worried about it...i have 220,00KM on my truck..and by the time that rusts to a noticeable amount i will have another 100-150,000km on my truck and the rest of the truck will be falling apart.

but i would like to get my doors fixed becuase that could rust through and start to show.

There is not one speck of rust on my '97, and we use salt every year on the roads here in VA.

I don't have rust any where else on my truck just under the passenger right rear door.
The bottom of my truck looks like the day it rolled off of the assembly line.
Pretty soon I'm going to bead blast the seam on the door and if I can find that rust bullet I will treat it.
