HPOP plug?

I have an 05 6.0, recently I noticed it has been taking 3-4 seconds to crank. The night I was leaving to go offshore it took about 8-10 seconds to crank. I stopped to fuel up and again it to about 10 seconds to crank. It is running fine otherwise. From the research I have done here it seems like the HPOP. Might be as simple as the plug having a loose connection.
Well my truck is in Venice LA, which is past the end of civilization. When I get in in the morninig I am sure hoping it will crank up. Can anyone explain to me where the plug for the HPOP is so I can check if it is loose?
Or if anyone thinks it may be a different problem, please give me some input.

Thanks,
RaginCajun

The HPOP, or high pressure oil pump, on the 05's was notorious for cracking/breaking a fitting inside the pump and causing a loss of oil pressure to the injectors, especially hot. It's not electrical. There is a newly designed fitting to repair it but will take a bit of work. It's covered under the 5yr/100K warranty w/$100 deductable.

RaginCajun,

It is on the top of the engine in the rear galley area below the turbo. You have to disassemble the top of the motor to get to it, so you will not be able to check it when you get off the boat. You need to take it to your favorite local 6.0 tech asap and get it diaganosed and fixed before it leaves you walking.

Here is a picture from the 6.0 Bible in the tech folder

Where south Louisiana are you? What rig are you on? I worked for Halliburton for 25 years out there, mostly in deepwater. You catching out of Venice, you work deepwater also, I would guess.

BTW, Welcome to FTE

I have worked on a few deep water jobs before. Right now I am on an inland barge rig Hercules 19. We are drilling for a small company, Dune Energy.
I live in Berwick. Thats right across the river from Morgan City.
I am a Mud Eng/Completion fluids Eng. What are you doing for Halliburton?

Thanks for the welcome.

I retired after Rita, I was a Service Supervisor for the cementing and tool parts. We may have crossed paths on one rig or another. I usually share an office with the Mud Eng. That is one of the best jobs on a rig.

Hope your truck cranks when you get back to the dock. Good luck.

That was the problem. Of course the dealer couldn't find it the first time I brought it in . I had to go home then break down the next day, and get towed in to the shop . Then they fixed it.
