blown HPOP hose and question about bleeding the HPOP

I just replaced both my hpop hoses after pumping out 10 qts of royal purple over about 40 miles of hwy and spending $240 getting towed back to my driveway. For those that are not aware like I was before last weekend these hoses are supposed to be replaced every 100,000 miles acording to ford. Mine blew at 250,000 miles. Riffraff hooked me up with some spiffy new hoses for a great price along with the special tool and O ring kits for the couplers.

Question: I filled the HPOP through the filler bolt, it took 800cc of oil. the truck cranked a bit before starting maybe 5-10 seconds. I only ran it for a short time to check for leaks. Then I started it a second time and it cranked a bit then and I drove a few miles to the car wash where it also cranked a bit on starting to come home, maybe 5 seconds for the second and third start ups. I'm assumiong it is cranking a bit on starting because it still has some of air in the HPOP system. is there a way or a procedure for bleeding the HPOP? is this normal, as if running an engine out of oil is normal, and how long before I get back to starting up on the first crank over?

You just have to drive it around to get all the air out. May take 300 to 400 miles.

Is the special tool necessary for the project?

What year is your truck? The OBS are a flange type hose, 11/16 wrench iirc. I think the SD's are different and require a 'special' tool.
