Request For Custom License Plate - DENIED!
A couple of months ago we had a discussion on custom license plates in this forum. It sparked my interest in getting one, so I applied to the California DMV.
The custom license? T444E Surprisingly, it wasn't already taken.
Today I got a letter from them with the following:
Unfortunately, we are unable to approve the requested license plate configuration for the following reason(s):
1. California Vehicle Code Section 5105(a), states, we must refuse any license plate configuration which carries connotations offensive to good taste and decency, or which may be misleading to some of our citizens.
So, my question for all of you is:
Do you have any ideas of what T444E might otherwise mean to "our citizens"?
I haven't a clue... ;-))

ROFLMAO!!!! Can't believe they denied that!
You might want to ask the DMV the same thing. And mention the fact that T444E is stamped on the side of international trucks, so if it's offensive they should be required to remove those emblems at once.

I dunno, but when I lived there I wouldn't talk to anyone at the DMV without supervisor on their name tag, and I ALWAYS had a current copy on the CVC so they could show me (in my book) the actual language. Most of the time they couldn't so I would win.
and they used to wonder why their people got shot at.

Some girly man at the DMV office in Sacramento that drives a Toyota Prius or a Scion Dilbertmobile probably thought you were insulting his manhood and he denied it. After that he went and hugged a tree and saved a wild Sonoma spotted grasshopper from a construction site and then had a apple frappe at Starbucks. Good day for him.
