2005 F350 6.0L Diesel
<TABLE><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top width="100%">I'm getting ready to take my 05' diesel in for quite a few different things.
1. Oil collection all over the under side of the motor. Oil dripping from seal between engine and tranny.
2. front passenger tire wearing on outside edge.
3. at idle, in drive, engine rpm pullsates roughly 200 rpms.
4.If I accelerate quickly throttle response takes up to 3 seconds to respond.
5. occasionally shifts hard.
This is my first diesel and the dealership told me that these powerstrokes basically sweat oil. Is this true?
Truck only has 29k on it and there is oil all over the front axle and so on.
Please let me know if these are common problems or what.
Thanks for the help or advise.

1. There have been issues with leaking rear main seals, but I believe mostly on earlier six-oh. My 03 six-oh use to leak a bit but after 20k miles, and without any intervention, it dosn't leak anymore.
2. Is your's lifted? If so I would suspect damaged bearing assembly. These are non user surviceable and are replaced as an assembly i.e. spindle and bearing cage as one unit that costs several hundred dollars.
3. I would venture to guess that your EGR valve is causing the poor idle. You can check this removing the valve and inspecting it for severe contamination ( black soot) that will accumulate over time, especially if you idle for extended periods. Or just tell the tech to have them check the EGR valve. Chances are they will find it sticking and replace it under warranty.
4. See #3. However, there will always be a slight delay on all turbo charge force induction engines.
5.Are you using a "tuner" if so, revert back to stock program and see if the shifts are relatively smoother. You may also reset the PCM by disconnect both batteries for 1-minute or two and re-connecting them back. Then start her up and shift from R through 1st gear while holding the brake, and then drive for a few miles under normal acceleration for the PCM to re-learn the shift strategies.
Lastely:
Find a new dealership that has a reputable diesel tech that knows the six-oh.
