I am in the process of instaling the 6637 mod [Larger air filter] I removed the top to the air filter box , removed the filter and I see some sort of a sensor mounted through the rear wall of the air housing. What is this for and what do I do with it when I remove my factory breather box?

My buddy TNT has 01 7.3L.. We're not sure what the sensor is but for the 6637 mod they said to just leave it hanging or tie it up to something.. There was no need to tap and install it to the intake tube.. He's been running it like that for a long time with no issues.. Could be an Intake Temp sensor of some sort..

 

That is an air intake temp sensor. Most of us just tie wrap it to the master cylinder or something else close by.
