Hey Guys. I just bought a 2005 F350. Diesel, 4x4, automatic etc.

I took it into my local garage, for an oil change, and the mechanic told me that my front Universal Joint was pretty loose. But that it was a pretty easy fix, that i could do myself.

I'm just curious what all is involved? Is it fairly straight forward? anything to look out for? For the time being i am avoiding the use of the 4WD.

Any help would be great, looking to tackle this within the next week or so.

 

Does anyone know where i can look online to find out about doing this repair? thanks

 

Front drive shaft? Axle shafts? Or front U-joint on the rear drive shaft? Wonder why the mechanic didn't try to sell the repair instead of suggesting you do it?

 

Family friend. I'm sure he said front UV joint and not to use the 4wd till i replaced it...

 

Ok since he said not to use four wheel drive it must be one of the front end U joints. I would then assume that he didn't mean the u joints by the wheels or he would have said left or right u joint. Since he said front, I would assume he meant the U joint at the front differential. That biend said, driveshaft u joints are all pretty much the same to change out. I believe there is a how to in the tech folder.
