Fiberglass roof leaks

I was wondering if anyone has ever had to seal the fiberglass roof on a
conversion van? If so, what did you use to seal it? The leaks are more
like rain seeping in through the crazed paint cracks.

Mine only leaked through the screws. I had a black rubber trim that went around the base of the fiberglass cap. i pulled it off and tightened all the sheet metal screws and replaced the ones that wouldn't tighten it stopped all the leaks and wind noise. every screw was loose to a degree. dunno bout the paint cracks, maybe a sealant might work or if its white a rubberized roof coating. I dunno

What conversion is it SubFord? I live in Elkhart and know people from all the converters just about. I like to bug them about problems.

I use Kool Seal and have never had a leak return. However it's white and leaves a texture so it may not look to good repainted. I roll it on with a small or large roller. My RV had a terrible leak. I rolled the whole roof with it and the owners that have it now, tells me it still doesn't leak.

This means the fiberglass is bad and you have to seal the whole roof with a rubber type paint or compound. JCW sells some in white for RVs. You can buy a variety of stuff from www.westmarine.com.

You are welcome. I had more time to search out what I was talking about

"One application of this excellent barrier coat finds, fills and seals hidden leaks and cracks in wood and fiberglass. Seals aluminum seam and rivet leaks. Abrasion- and impact-resistant, it flexes with hull or deck to prevent cracking. Compatible with most marine overcoats."
