New Owner/ Rear Window Question.

Ok, so my fiance's dad has had an '85 Bronco sitting at his house for as long as I've know her. So finally I asked him about it and he quit driving it b/c the emissions bs is all screwed up/broken off at the manifolds etc. Anyway he gave it to me today and I'm going to pull the 351 to rebuild and put in my '71 f100 and replace it w/ a 302 I have. My question is about the rear window. With both the inside switch and the outside key switch I can hear the motor running both up and down but the window does not move. I ran out of daylight today and didn't get to look into it. Are the tracks/gears easy to get to/work on/repair? And what do you guys suggest the problem is?

Any help is appreciated.

Yep the gears and such are pretty easy to get to. There is a access panel on the tail gate on screw it and you will be able to see everything. If the window is up (and I assume and hope it is) then you'll be set my bet is the gears and guides are rusted and the window is stuck, you'll be able to see everything as long as the window is UP.. If the window is down you need to CAREFULLY raise the window manually so you can get to everything.

Good Luck and welcome the the forum.

While getting to my tools to fix my carb woes my tailgate (rear) window went down and stayed there. I've never had any problems with it before and it actually worked the best/fastest of all windows. Its currently in the down position. How do I manually get it up to work on it ?

with the gate down pop things on the side so it thinks its closed open your acess panel and from the switch roll the window up and have someone back there to support the glass as it comes out.

boice, dont put a 302 into this bronco. i strongly suggest you leave it in there as is and get it running. the bronco is a heavy rig and the 302 will leave you wanting more.

Hey, used the key on the tailgate and guess what...? It rolled up. Had no idea. The switch on the dash doesn't work though. What does that mean...? Faulty switch or a sign of more trouble ahead ?
