How come...
Why is it that when a great band feels that its time to change their sound and come out sounding even better because of it, everybody moans and whines?? Take for instance the band Trivium, I think that they are a great metalcore band there older stuff was pretty good, now on they're new cd (actually came out in 2006) they have changed their style and sound more like and 80's Metallica a lot of people are whinning and saying they will not listen to the music. Are people that afraid of change?

I think a lot of musicians, and by extention there bands, put a lot of there own personal thoughts, emotions and feelings into what they are "creating"
As we age, things that we used to like sometimes are replaced by new. Kids can change a life as well as a divorce. What created the musicians desire to create a paticular song, or style may simply not exist or be important to them.
Case in point is my own life. Single I had one way of doing things, married, a whole new perspective. Kids and the responsibility that there bring (or should) changes things yet again, divoce brought wholesale changes. Things I used to enjoy didn;t much matter to me any longer. Being a single parent for 7 years brought a whole new focus into my life as to what really mattered. Now that my son is raised, I find my self right back to where I started at, but with a whole different thought pattern to go forth with...
ABBA's individual members I think said it best, we did everything creativly that we could back when we were a group. Now we have different a different focus and a different level of creativly. To go back and rehash what was done would be only diluting those with good memories....
As far as my tastes, it goes from Metallica's Black Album to Bethoven's fifth. From pop rock to Country. Not really into rap though. Disco to acid rock... and back again! Free Bird is on my mind right now... But what i listen to depends upon my mood.

I think as most band members age they no longer rock as hard as they once could. I remember Metallica from the 80s, songs like battery, the four horsemen, and master of puppets, 7 min power trips that rocked a million times harder then this st anger crap.
It seems many bands change their trend to keep pace with their original fans. As their fan base ages the music gets slower, and blander. Case in point Korn, they were fricken insane during the early years. Last time i seen them live was two years ago, during the family values tour, they just didnt have the power they once had.
Completely off topic, anyone notice the new trend of "hard core dancing" that seems to go with the new age whino rock? These little dorks jump around in the crowd doing kicks and punches into the air. I grew up in the mosh pit era, we got trashed and kicked the crap out of each other because it was fun. Now days these kids dance like pansies, you shove em down and they don't stand up very fast.

I couldn't agree with you more! I used to love Korn but Issues and everything since just hasn't been quite as good, I don't think. JMO....
