waste oil in the fuel tank

Not me but I was changing my oil for the first time Sat and the contractor that's building my pole barn( garage) asked me what I do with the used oil. I said I can take it to work and they recycle it there, and he says with a straight face he just dumps his in his fuel tank, says he had a 7.3 with @ 200k did it to that all the time. He has an 06 cc now, and I politely told him it probably wasn't a good idea to do this to a 6.0. He said he has 25k on it and it hasn't bothered it yet I just didn't know what else to say, it doesn't seem to bother him- YET!

As much as we have been hearing stories about people using waste oil, tranny fluid, and heating oil in their trucks lately I am beginning to wonder how many of the 6.0Ls problems are being caused by people treating them "like their old truck".

Amen! This is a new era in diesel technology. If you want to feed it waste or the dregs, get a goat... IMHO

I would NEVER do such a thing to MY truck! It took me too long to finally get the truck of my dreams to do something so silly.

Why spend 40-50-60k on a truck and treat it like a home furnace or a used
motor oil burner??

I have heard crazy stories im sure beach will be along here to see if im right but I believe the fuel filters have a 5 micron rating so they would filter the majority of the trash the full flow left behind...although they would plug quick im sure. it would lube things up but offers no chemical for geling or cleaning obviously...not worth the risk... to many people think these motors are the same as they were when rudolf diesel ( i think that was his name) made then with his first running solo off peanut oil.
