WalMart has both Fram $15.00(Repackaged OEM Racor) or Motorcraft $20.00. If you have a Pep Boys close by they had a coupon in last Sundays paper for Fram filtes 2 for $7.00 and i believe CSK has the same deal right now.

Hope this helps

Oops my bad, read that one to fast.

Try Y2K Ford Parts or Direct Ford Parts they are both FTE sponors. Also Oilguard makes a billet aluminum filter cap.

Yeah...I want to replace the plastic for the billet eventually. Doesn't Oilguard (or whoever makes the caps for Oilguard) also supply Amsoil with their billet caps?

I would just use the OEM (Racor made) oil filter cap.

Why you ask....

1) Due to machining differences, the filter and cap may not seat properly and allow the drain valve to remain open.

2) A poor fitting cap is just as bad as using a poor fitting (will-fit) oil filter.

3) The housing, filter and cap (all designed by Racor) were made to work together as far as fit, finish and proper sealing.

If anyone here is willing to use an aftermarket oil filter cap... they might as well just use non-Racor "will-fit" oil filters as well!!!!!

Spend the money and buy an OEM filter cap... or better yet, check with your local Int'l dealer and see what they charge... I bet it is less. Ask for the oil filter cap to fit the VT365 motor.

Let us kow what you find out and do.

When I spoke to Oilguard they told me the billet caps were a direct copy of the Racor plastic caps....because of the problem you stated above. This was to ensure that their bypass systems worked with Racor filters. Maybe someone who has the Oilguard system can confirm.

I am going to pull the cap back off tonight, from the sounds of it the top of the old oil filter may still be inside. If I can get it off I will just go buy a new filter. Thanks everyone!

Oil cap

I don't know if the parts guy was mistaken, but he quoted me $10.00 for a oil filter cap for a VT365. This is at the international dealer in town here. I'm going to get it now, I want one as a spare anyway. I will let you know soon if it is correct. Mike Kelly

But aren't the Oil Guard billet caps "ported" to accept the "oil-out" line for the by-pass oil filter system... or do they make one that has no hole or port in the top?

My Racor by-pass oil filter set-up uses a billet cap to replace the stock cap, but has a "port" in it for the by-pass oil filter... and becuase it is Racor branded.. I knoew that it would fit 100% just like the OEM cap.

Does Oil Guard sell Racor designed caps for non-by-pass oil filter set-ups????

Yep same design... I'd be willing to bet that they are the exact same caps. The way Oilguard made it sound was that everything they had was designed to work with Racor and they either had to get permission from Racor or are working with Racor (kind of like Fram with the oil filters)... This info was just off one conversation with them...so maybe somebody can confirm.

I believe you can purchase the caps seperately...not sure if you can get them without the port or not. I'm interested because of the bypass filtration and also need to intall an Oil Temp sender.

That's cheap dude.....I had to replace a fuel filter cap on my 04, and it cost me right around $55.

Let us know if that price is for real or not.

oil filter cap correction

As suspected the 10.00 quote was for the oil cap, not the oil filter cap.

International does have the oil filter cap listed as a kit ( the picture on the computer screen was correct ) for 35.23 plus tax. They had to order it , but it's worth the two day wait. The part number given for the kit is 1840754C91.

P.S.--I was told they can not sell just the cap seperate, just the kit. I did not asked what came with in the kit, but it's still cheaper than Ford. Mike
