Tailgate Question

I have a 83' Bronco and my tailgate is rusted out. I got a used tailgate from a 93' Bronco. Will that tailgate fit my truck, or am I sol?

I think it will but I heard you have to use the 83' glass.

Thanks I have my old glass. How do you remove it? I tried to remove it and it would not come out. There is metal support looked to be rivited on. Do I need to remove the weather striping before pulling the glass out of the talgate? I dont want to tear this up trying to get it out. Suggestions.....

Yes, you do need to remove the weather strips, inside and the outside. I just reolaced mine on my 80, They clip in with a clip that pushs down into the slots in the lip. I also replaced the window in my truck, I was told that the tailgates and windows would interchange up into the 90's without changing the window, but not sure.

That would be nice, I read somewhere on the net that It would not fit. I'm going to try it. The tailgate was free, and had a little surface rust inside, but I used a little elbow grease and shot it with rusk killer. It's drying now. My friend just emailed me a link. http://www.autofab.com/tailgate.htm. It shows a little about replacing a rusted tailgate with a fiberglass one..

Be careful putting it back in tho. especially if its the bolted in kind like my 79. If you over tighten youll have glass everywhere (From Experience) LOL

Thanks, I guess I'll just snug the bolts with lock tight.
