Are you talking about the black strip at the top?

Are there any marks on it? Just playing the devil's advocate here.... if there are, they could claim that whatever cargo you had hauled pried that lip up, and its a non-warranty repair. Can you tell how it is affixed to the gate? Pins? Adhesive?

Yes there are normal marks form use and it's affixed by plastic pins.

Well you should certainly claim it to be faulty under the warranty period, just be aware of the argument I made above. Let us know how it turns out.

I am having a problem with that Tailgate lip protector as well... I personally think it is crap I plan on replacing it with a nice metal one. My ATV ramps don't even come close to touch it, yet it pulls up in the middle anyhow...

Yep! The left side of mine keeps coming up. And why must we prove it wasn't abused, IT'S A TRUCK!! If plastic is going to break that easy then they should have bought alot of them and quietly replace it everytime it breaks or put something better on there!!!

Ok my tailgate tale gets better...

When I bought my truck they GAVE me the Factory Ford Bed-liner. Now I know why! So tonight I figured I would take the tailgate piece off and see what was going on. After further examination the Lip is held on with these cheesy clips, and they only hold it down along the upper (top) portion of the cap - All of the aftermarket Tailgate Caps/Lips come with this sweet heavy duty 3-M adhesive tape.

Anyhow, the tailgate piece attaches using longer crappy sheetmetal screws to attach the Tailgate Piece AND the access panel (to access the Tailgate latch mechanism) Well guess what? 2 of those 8 screws Stripped out.. and I was using a Torx screwdriver!!! It isn't like I was wrenching on it with a 3/8" Rachet... So no wonder my lip keeps lifting.... You would think Ford would put a welded nut on the back so you could use Machine screws and actually tighten it down.....I mean

I think my only way out here is to maybe talk to the dealer... or just epoxy ( I don't feel like welding... some nuts on the back and using Machine screws.. I could go with oversize Sheetmetal screws.. first...

On my '04 my screws stripped out on it. I'll need to check and see if it happened again on my '06. Hadn't felt like checking too closely incase it was a warrenty problem, then I would have to start that game again and I just got my blood pressure back down!! It's a cry'n shame we have to feel that way!!
