Just curious, if the EPA wants cleaner diesels seems like they would require them to go through emmissions testing like the gasoline engines do?? Hopefully they don't sniff the tail pipe or anything like that??

The EPA will be conducting random smog tests beginning with commercial vehicles. To date, I haven't seen any information as to when they will start.

In Nevada we have emissions testing on diesels; what sux is there are only a few "qualified" diesel testing stations as opposed to the smog huts on nearly every corner.

Are we the only state???

Arizona has required smog checks on diesels for years, they check opacity at the tale pipe as one of the tests. Too much black smoke and you fix it or park it.

Diesel testing will be coming to other states also, CA is already talking about starting it and other will follow. New York and several other East Coast states have required CA emissions vehicles to be sold in there states as well.

Hope this helps
