That's my policy too. I used to let people borrow the 76 with the warning "she's loud gets 7 MPG and is a bear to drive, but sure you can borrow my truck" only ever had one taker on borrowing. Now that the 76 is under the knife I actually have to say no. The one that gets me the worst is my own folks. I bought my '01 when it was new and when I was in school. Because they were helping me through school I felt obligated to let them borrow it when needed(dad used to be a courier so his vehicle was his job). It has been wrecked twice. Once by mom, once by dad. From then on, if my truck leaves the driveway, I am behind the wheel or in the passenger seat, PERIOD end of story. and that applies to all my equipment too. If it get's borrowed I come with it- and it comes home with me. No drop-offs anymore.

I have a 95 F-150 that comes pre-dented and scratched. They can take that one any time, just bring it back full and get the trash out of it.

But it still surpises me the looks I get when I tell them the 250 doesn't get borrowed.....ever. You asked for a truck, not a fashion statement-Take the beater.

It all makes sense now. I bought the 06 F-150 back in August last year. Prior to that I had an 89 F-150 inline 6 with an 8' foot bed that he borrowed all the time. That thing was a tank and had dents and dings all over the place. I miss that truck but I couldn't justify having 2 trucks, a boat, and a car all to myself. This was the first time he borrowed the 06 since I sold the 89. Maybe I can convince my brother-in-laws to buy him an old F-150 tank for Father's Day!

now that is a good idea...for $2-3K you can get a nice 92-96 F-150 that runs okay and won't look to bad. this latest revision of the F-series has driven the prices of those trucks down big time and split among several people can kill the ouch factor

btw, I drive or the truck stays parked. Nobody by myself or the wife will ever have the keys to my truck.

Better have a gun

Well to make a long story short, my 06 F-150 Lariat now has a 2-3" dent on the tailgate with two matching scratches to the left and right.

He apologized and explained that the tailgate accidentally hit the tractor that he was towing blah-blah-blah. Honestly, I didn't hear one word I was just waiting for the "I'll take care of it" piece of the conversation. It finally came..."I'll take care of it"...the moral of the story don't lend your truck to anyone!

Just venting...thanks for listening.

LMAO

When I get my truck, the policy is gonna be:

I drive

You load,I supervise

You pay for gas

You buy any food and drink

And if you get the interior dirty or stained, you will clean it or pay to get it cleaned
