Dam brake dust...ceramic pads which ones?
Both I and my dad have about 4,500 miles on are 06's.
And we both can not stand the brake dusk any more.
At 5,000 miles we are planing to rotate the tires and then change the pads out to Ceramic ones both front and back.
And for me I have been pulling an 4000 pound tandem axle untily trailer around the last few weeks and I can clean the tires and in 3 days they are black.
So..does anyboby have an idea on what kind of pads to go with?
The autozone down the street has duralast ceramic ones with a life time
Warranty.

Ceramics suck in performance/towing applications. I don't remember the specifics of the 3 hour lecture from my performance friction rep, but the bottom line was, if you drive fast or tow anything your better off with a semi metallic. PF does make ceramic pads, so it's not just a case of trying to sell me thier product.
So I have three suggestions for you. Get a good set of pads, be it Perf. Fric, hawk, EBC. Wash the rotor off with dish soap, it demagnitizes the rotor instantly. Three, put a coat of wax on the wheels. It may sound a little silly, but it will stop the dust from sticking.
I do wash my wheels when I do my truck, but I have only waxed them once in the last 2 years. To make mine sparkle takes only a quick wipe with soapy water.

There seems to be alot of differing opinions on here as to the benefits of ceramic brakes. Best suggestion I can make is to do a search, read all the posts and judge for yourself. I've tried waxing my wheels and using Teflon coatings...didn't work for me. Didn't try washing my rotors, well, because it just doesn't make alot of sense to me. I'm going to give the Performance Friction Carbon metallic pads from autozone a try.

I have usually gone with the Bendex pads or the Wearever GOLD pads from Advance Auto parts, never tried the ceramic pads but the semimetallic pads from either company are much cleaner than the stock pads. Whatever you do do not get the Silver pads from Wearever, they are just as dirty as the stock and do not include the shims that are attached to the back resulting in some noise.
