man , I sure loved his strip- the guy had a great wit and sense of humor! He will really be missed! Rest in peace, Johnny!

RIP Johnny. Your wit was exceptional, as well as educational. The reader sometimes had to think about the joke to get it. One of my favorite cartoons of his went like this:

"Did you rent your cave before you bought it?"
"No. It was in pretty bad shape when I got it."


He also drew the Wizard of Id.

 

My favorite was:
BC comes out of his cave with huge bags under his eyes and a big goofy grin, Curls asks why he's so happy. - "you'd be smiling too if you slept with a couple hundred crickets telling you to cheer up all night!!"

 

My favorite part of the paper - the funnies. B.C. and Wizard of Id were two of my favorites. Always a nice guy, I don't recall any of his strips being mean-spirited.

Wiley "What'll you have?"
Grog "GROG!!!"
Wiley handing him a drink "That's the first thing you've ever said that made sense."

 

BC was classic.

 

BC was great, sad to hear of Johnny`s passing.

 

or this one...wife ant with her suitcase packed-"I'm leaving you for George!"
"why are you taking MY clothes and suit case?" the husband ant asks. "George is down on his luck." she says and leaves. husband ant stands by himself for a moment and then says, "wish I would have said that!"
