Talking Shimming the fuel regulator

Have any of you tried this mod?

Shimthefuelregulator

Shimming the fitting with a 3/16 spacer behind the spring in the fuel regulator. This is located on the right hand side of the fuel filter. You will see a 3/4 brass nut there. The spring is inside there. Shimming will raise the fuel pressure and often give you a worthwhile increase in power and no one that I can recall has reported higher fuel consumption.

Does this really work? Is the shim supposed to be a peice of tubing or what does it look like? I guess I really dont understand what is meant here. Maybe some one has a picture you might be able to share. Maybe hints or suggestions. Does this work well with the 10k Mod? Thanks guys

dont use a 3/16 ball bearing it is a little to big ( I will never be able to get mine out) All you do is but one bb from a bb gun and install it behind the spring in the fpr. and double check the pressue, should be close to 70psi.

yes it works. I couldn't really tell much of a difference but it did raise fuel pressure. and didn't decrease mileage so I consider it to be good. as far as the shim a ball bearing works. i have used the head of a machine screw. pretty much anything that will fit inbetween the sping and the valve. sorry no pics. and yes it will work well with the 10k mod

I used a 19/42 bolt and washers. Filed them down to fit into the spring assembly and im pushin close to 87psi. You dont really wanna go past 82psi, as the pressures can cause some catostrophic failure. I have already gone through one FPR and fuel bowl assembly cause i had it pushin 90psi. I have it set just right at this point. Good luck!
