Recent misshaps or mandatory repairs

I figure a thread for things you have torn up or had to replace recently might work.

Here are some pics of the Cam and lifter in my 70 that ate each other up.

nice idea for a thread. Sometimes curiosity leads to a total melt down. Just last week I did it to myself. In my neverending pursuit of a smooth running truck, I decided to change out the points. I knew just enough to get myself in instant internet search mode. I never messed with points in my life. As a former helicopter mechanic, I figured how hard could it be? Not hard at all if you have a clue. For the clueless, it means instant death. I had no idea what should be adjusted or where to adjust it from. I gave it a wild shot and guessed wrong. Did you know it is an almost impossible search on Google when searching "How to change points on a 351W dizzy?' Only when you need the answer, that is. After the fact not to difficult to find. Luckily I swallowed my pride and called a friend from the local bar for help. He showed up and got the truck running again. We have yet to place the dwell meter near the truck yet. Right now, running is good enough for me. At least, till next "Weekend".
