Factory hood insulation mats on 87-96 F150s??

Has anyone seen a insulation mat on the underside of the hood-- on a F150-- that was factory installed??

I have only seen these insulation mats installed on F250/F350 diesels .

Y2K Ford Parts (link on the left side of this page) carries them for 40 bucks.

I checked that website and the Ford factory pads are over 100 dollars--without shipping and fasteners.

I am interested in having a quieter truck from inside the cab and in protecting my new expensive paint job on the hood from engine bay heat damage.

Ahh, that's right, it was lmctruck.com I was thinking of, not y2kford. Sorry 'bout that.

You're new paint should not be affected by the heat from the engine... My paint is still just as perfect as it was when it left the factory and I don't have the underhood insulation. Also, I'm not sure insulating the hood is going to decrease the in-cab engine noise... You'd have better luck insulating the firewall and the doors/floor. Just my .02

It list one for a diesel only. The factory did not come with one.
