Bacially your truck is like a very late 79.
you can decode the codes here yourself on my page here.

or I can .....if you can't figure them out.

mil1ion thanks for the help ,i have seen your post for that before, i appreciate the help. it does appear to leave a few unanswered questions. my engine code is a g but it looks wider than a windsor based motor. i'm reasonably certain that it is an M. doesnt mean it wasnt swapped out. then the f262 leaves a big question, doesnt come up on 78-9. an f263 was the lowest number which was a 6?00lb gvw, yet my axle code denotes a -60ls w3.54's rated at 5300lb. any other ideas or another directuion you can point me? thanks again, Dan

On the engine, count your valve cover bolts. 6 per on the 302 and 351W's and 8 on the 351M and 400

ALL Ford trucks in 1980 had 11 digit VIN's....17 digit VINS were used from 1981 on trucks.

Cars only had 17 digit VINS in 1980.

lmc ain't Ford! 1980 Ford trucks still used an 11 digit VIN~~1981/ have 17 digits.

F26 = F250 4X4

G = 351 2V

C = Ontario Truck

GK0348 = 1980

DD = RED All Vinyl

4 = Pickup 8' Box

F262 = 1980 Pickup F250 4X4

K = C6

C7 = Dana 60 / 3.54-1 / 5300 lb axle capacity~limited slip

bill thanks i could not remember your screen name otherwise i would have just pm'ed you. either way i was reasonably certain you and mil1ion would have something. as for that axle did it come up as a limited slip in your archives? as for the trim it is a bright red ext. and red interior, has a seatcover on it and have not pulled it back to see if cloth or not. so it appears that i bought the truck i thought i bought. and the sticker in the window from the ontario truck plant was pretty obvious. thanks again bill! There were carry over codes for the 80 from the 79

In the DD4

D as Knit and Vinyl bench seat
(the first character of the 3 being the seat type.... for a Bronco, D was a Bucket seat)
D is Red interior
4 = styleside bed

for 79 ..engine code G was 302

In 1980 that changed to the 351

These pesky interior codes again on 1980/ trucks, I swear...

It'll be interesting to see what interior DusterDan has. The codes are thus:

CD = Red Cloth & Vinyl

DD = Red All Vinyl

FD = Red Cloth & Vinyl
