what year did cats start?

wondering what PSD trucks had cats and which ones didnt.
what year did they start using them?
all 250s 350s, super duty's??...certain states?
can anyone clear me up on this?
i really had no idea they put cats on diesels. at least until 07. (big stuff)

MY OTHER CAR IS A KENWORTH T-2000.(LARGECAR)
in fact we are sitting in it right now down by LAX.

I think they started putting CATS on PSDs beginning with the 03 6.0 liter.

Many early 99's had them. Lot's of 6-speeds had them in 99-00. Some sold in California equipped with a cat.

well---i dunno bout the left coast but cats didn't occur over on the right coast till the introduction of the 6.0 psd.

we just bought a used f350 2001 drw 4x 156 inch and am looking forward to some mods.
so looking at the bottom side the other day to check out the exhaust...i see a long straight pipe back to the muffler and it looks very stock but appears to have no kitty bump. so i'm wondering has it been deleted or was it stock w/o.

Not sure about the cat's but i hope the kenworth is comfortable, because you'll be in 405 traffic (by LAX)for awhile!!!

Heading north the 405 doesn't ease up till you reach the 5 (maybe), going south, 405 merges with the 5 at the Orange County Y (Orange crush). South on the 5, you might luck out on traffic by the time you pass San Clemente.

No diesels used cats prior to 1990.

105 for an hour so far...605 north to 10 and then we'll see ya in orlando in about 50 hours...

Only the Californicated 7.3l's came with a catalytic converter, so it's very probable that yours never had one.
