85 F-150 hesitation

I have an 85 F-150 with a 302 with EFI, me and my dad just got done rebuilding the motor and after we had it broken in we went and put it through its paces and when you sit at a stop light and you go to take off fast it has an incredibly rough hesitation and it bucks and kicks like the clutch is slipping but the clutch is brand new. Please help

Thanks, Dan

Check for codes from the computer. You may get a code that the TPS sensor is bad. Also double check the timing. I am assuming you set it with the spout connector disconnected?

Follow the wires coming out of the distributor. All of them will be grouped together with their own plug, but there will be one by itself with either it's own plug, or a funny looking plug that looks like a jumper. This single plug coming from the dist is the spout connector.

The computer has control of the timing. It has a range that it can adjust the timing. To get the timing in the ballpark so everything works correctly, you have to temporarily take the timing control away from the computer. You do this by unplugging the spout connector. Then you loosen the dist and with a timing light, turn the dist till the setting is the same as on the tag on the radiator support. When you are done, and lock down the dist, then you plug the spout back in, and give control back to the computer.
