Air Force '86-'90 410th Bomb Wing, 410th OMS Tanker Branch as a crew chief to KC-135A's. These ol' babys still had the age old j57-59w "water burners".
I was stationed at K.I.Sawyer AFB in upper Michigan 30 miles south of Marquette. Saw over 300 in. of snow per year there one too many times and after President Bush senior gave into the Dems on military budget cutbacks I got out. Morale went to hell and no one was getting orders out of there.
Interestingly enough I had Col. Eldon Jorez for a base commander. If anyone knows their pilots he supposedly holds most of the records in the SR-71 spy plane.

Joined the Air Force in '82 as a Munitions Systems Specialist. Been to New Mexico, Korea, South Carolina, Utah, Guam, Nebraska. Became a First Sergeant in 2001 and went back to New Mexico. Deployed to Saudi twice and Kygrzystan twice. Retired in 2005. Dad retired from Air Guard as an A-10 crew chief, oldest brother retired as an Air Traffic Controller. Grandfather served in WW1. My son also served in the Air Force for a bit. Had a blast (no pun intended) and miss it most every day. Especially the people...

Heheh. I think your short timer's chain is connected to the anchor.
Don't worry, in a few years it'll seem like the time flashed by. Don't wish your life away. Enjoy the ride. Everybody that served misses the guys they served with.
