I was picking up my new F450 today and noticed the Ford pamphlet on the 2008 Super Duty's had reduced ratings for the F450 in both power and torque (325/600) as compared to the F250/F350 (350/650). Why the reduced output? No one at the dealer seemed to be aware of this or knew why? I purchased it anyhow but it has me wondering...
Probably reduced for a similar reason that Dodge uses derated Cummins engines in all their manual transmission trucks, becuase the drivetrain isn't rated to handle the stress of the higher output engine at that GVWR.
f450 with manual or an F450 with auto and 4.88's is governed down. I would imagine that the drivetrain is not up to the power. I would also imagine that one of the tuners will come out and remove the governer.
