Question Wont Start

I have an 84 Ford F250 3/4 4x4 with the 351 Windsor in it. I was driving today and I was about to turn into my driveway and I stopped because of the dog and the truck just turned off. It didnt kick, sputter, whine, or cough. Its like someone just flicked the switch off. I havent checked for spark yet but I was wondering has anyone else had this problem? The tach still jumps when the motor cranks but the motor wont fire, I have the tach hooked right into the negative side of the coil. I have an MSD 6AL unit and an MSD ignition coil. I replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, last year sometime. Is there a switch under the dash somewhere? I've heard that there is an inhertia switch under the dash that turns the ignition off. Is there one in mine? Also I am getting fuel. Thanks, Matt

Here is my Story on my '85 F250 351. Similar story.
Was out plowing last big storm and ran into a problem. The truck is old and worked pretty hard. But, when it runs it runs good!

Came to a stop, and just about to put truck in park and she died. Figured I needed another starter Solenoid so I let it cool down. Went back to her and turned the key, NOTHING! I mean nothing! Lights work, dash lights work and everything comes on when you turn the key. But, nothing going to starter. No crankor anything. You can jump it by crossing the solenoid but that is the only way right now.

Any suggestions?

The motor cranks fine. I just replaced the voltage regualtor and starter solenoid a couple weekds ago cause they were pretty old. Everything works but no go.

You know Elevate you might just wanna pull your starter and take it down to autozone or some place that test starters. Yours might be bad, If you've change the regualtor and the solenoid.

It will start when you cross the solenoid with screwdriver. Cranks right over and starts right up. Just can't use ignition. Ignition switch has been pin tested I believe (it is at a shop). They seem to think that it is in the wiring somewhere.

If it will start when you jump the solenoid, the solenoid could be bad even though you just replaced it.Things can be bad new in box.

Retrace the wires going from your 6AL to the distributer. I suspect you have a short or a bad connection.
