Recommend some headers for 03 250 SD 5.4L
Gents,
2003 SD F-250 5.4L auto
doing a swap....old 5.4 for a nice new (kinda) one from Grooms.. Grooms Engines - Remanufactured Engines .....thinking of headers instead of screwing with manifolds and the related bolt issues....
Recommend some to me please !!!! The Gibsons look like the ones, but the price is MEGA..... How about ANY others???....

Check out this Ford Truck Forums member site for header install. Great projects for the F250. He put JBA headers on his 2004 F250 5.4.

If you haven't already installed them, be sure to carefully check all of the welds where the pipes meet the flange. My son bought a set of headers from Summit to put in my 1997 F150 4.6L. Can't remember the brand but there was one place that had a hole you couldn't hardly see for the pipes. Short story is they made a noise and pin pointing it was a pill. Finally took the headers off to find it. Decided to return them to Summit. Put the stock manifolds back on.

JBA headers for the 5.4 L vin during engine swap
So the swap is done. The old one sounded like it was about to grenade at any moment. The new one from Grooms was exceptionally prepared, shipped, and delivered. I am very happy with them and their price.... on to the headers....
The flange was strange. Nice and thick, but not flat like an old school header flange.... However, once paired with their gasket (which was kinda cool)... they sealed up no problem. I got a deal from AA Auto parts ( A&A Auto Stores - Your hometown auto parts store in Pennsylvania > Home ) on the headers for the EGR engine, and stuck a plug in the fittings as mine is a non-EGR...
The price was FAR less than what Summit is selling them for... Check it out.!!!
..Two heat cycles, re-tightened, and no issues.
I've never had the opportunity to drive one of these trucks with a completely stock exhaust... so I have nothing to compare to... I will say this though...It works nice. Smooth power, some decent bottom end... then she goes really well into the mid and top. .... I can't wait to do the "y" (t) pipe swap, and the dual exhaust. I am sure that will open it up nicely.
Overall, I will buy from JBA (pertronix) again. Nice product, well made, fit easily, and good instructions.
.................Thanks. Clutch47
