Trying to connect brake lights???!!!

Hi, I have a '53 M100 truck and have recently changed over the steering column to a chrysler fifth avenue and can't figure out the wiring. Can anyone please give me some insight in how to connect it all????????

Welcome to the board!!

I have heard that the wiring on the chrysler coloumns is a bit wierd. I have some basic drawings made by a fellow FTE member from a Jeep column that might be helpful. If you PM me with you email address (you will have to disguise your addy a bit or it will get cut out....ie. soandso at whatever dot com).

It would also be helpful if you could find a wiring schematic from the car that the column came out of. Are you trying to hook into your original harness are have you wired your truck with an aftermarket wiring harness?

Give us some more details; what is your truck? mods, etc. what was your donor? year make, etc

Good luck
Bobby

Chrysler has many color codes, also with or without tilt matters. I assume it's with tilt...

It could vary, but what I had was:

Horn: Black/Red
L Front Lt Green
R Front Tan
Hazard Pink
Turn Flasher Red
L Rear Dk. Green/Red
R Rear Brown/Red
Stop White
L Corner Lt Green/Black
R Corner Tan/White
Corner Feed Violet
Key Alarm Lt Blue and Black/Lt Blue

This might help some, but remember, Chryslers vary a lot.

Welcome to FTE! I also used a Chrysler 5th Avenue column. The problem with the brake lights/turn signals is that they are non-integrated on that column. That is, the brake lights and directional signals must be separate lights. If you hook up the brake lights and directional signals to the same lights they will not continue to flash when you brake. That was a disappointment for me as I did not want separate lights but I found a pair of motorcycle signal lights in a swap meet and used those for directional signals.
