Anyway to adjust the length of tailgate cables??

I have a new Ford made tailgate and have installed it on the truck--but the driver's side cable is loose and the right side is tight. I have replaced the cables and still have the same situation. If I sit on the tailgate when lowered both cable are then tight. But with no weight on the tailgate--only one of the cables are supporting the weight of the tailgate.

Is there a way to adjust the lenght of these cables and make it where both cables are supporting the weight of the tailgate ??There doesnt seem to be any adjustment of the striker and the tailgate latch doesnt seem to be adjustable --or doesnt seem to effect how tight the tailgate cable are.

The truck is a 92 F-150 styleside.

sounds as if the tailgate is warped a little
disconnect the loose end and apply a small
amount of pressure to true it up
this may take several attemps to get it even

Has the truck ever been in an accident? Could be your box is twisted a little bit. Try what mhg suggested that should help.
as far as I know there is not way to adjust the length of your cables. You might also just have to use the tailgate for a while until the shorter cable stretches out to match the longer one doesn't sound like there is much difference since it only takes your weight to make them have the same tension.
