1960 223 Tune Up Specs????
Alex,
Glad to see some activity in this section. Here are specs for the car version of the 223 - which should be the same:
plugs - .035
dwell - 37 deg
point gap - .025
timing - manual 4 deg btdc, auto 6 deg btdc
tappet clearance (hot) - .019
Recommend setting your actual timing where it runs best, probably more like 8 to 10 deg btdc. When I use to adjust valves on 292s and 312s I always set them to .017, quieter and better performance. Set them hot and running. I use to use a u-joint on a rachet wrench to do that. (Those were the days) That was on a 59 Galaxie, 59 Ranchero, and a 57 Retract - back when life was easy. Sorry about the flashback. Good Luck
