Buying a 49 truck, it has been parked under a tree for a while. The seat covering is completely gone, replaced with a piece of plywood. The door windows and back window are gone, and the windshield is cracked. Windows are getting done first. Are they available on the net? Seat is next, same question. Third question, how do I find out info about the truck? I will find the VIN in the next couple of days and post it. Finally, I was told that I can put a new engine in it, I believe a 289 or 302. I am not interested in restoration so much as getting it running again, so historical accuracy is not a must. It has a flathead 6 in it now. Apparently, it was a longer truck originally, the back end was chopped and shortened. It does have dual tires in the back, and 20 springs on each side.

Thanks for the help, and I hope to be of some assistance myself later.

Joe

I have a 48 that needs all the glass, and I plan on going to the local auto glass dealer and having him cut it. It is all flat glass. I figure it'll be cheaper than shipping the other stuff by truck. If you do want to order it, I've seen it in Bob Drake Repro's in Oregon and Sacramento Vintage Ford in Ca.

Joe, I tried to email you thru this cumbersome system but it failed. Send me a note at tmtrim@digisys.net and I can answer some of your questions about vin # and other things. On glass, I haven't made it to the shop yet. But i saved the broken pieces in case they want them. Tim
