70-72 Mustang 9" for 50 f1

I have the chance to get a 70-72 Mustang 9" for the rear of my 50 f1. My reference tells me that later 70's to 73 Mustang had the same width that my present stock rear has of 61 1/4 inches. Does anyone have infor mation on this swap and spring purch setup as to the stock rear end. The less I need to do the better and any info is appreciated.
I am thinking along the lines of a auto trans with overdrive and a rear end ratio of 3.89. Thanks

I forgot to mention that I will be puchasing a 350 crate motor and am leaning toward a built 200 4r trans. The front end mustang II will be ordered next week.

I'm also looking to change my rear end. Currently I have a 9" from a 76 F150 which is about 6" to wide he tire stick out. I took measurements from the inside of the hubs and came up with 58" where did you take your measurements. If you make the switch let me know if it mounted O.K. without sticking out.
P.S. I was also told that a mid 50 to 64 ford PU 9" rear end was the same width as the 55.

I put on the same 9" on my 55 F100. All I had to do was to cut off the old spring brackets(the axle is on the bottom of the Mustang springs)and weld new ones on the opposite side( if you dont want to lower the rear end)

I am pretty sure from all that I have read that the measurement is from the outside hub to hub because for one reason the inside dimension could stay the same and the brake pads and drums are bigger and the tire assembly would stick out beyond the dimensions needed. Ed ke6bnl
