300-6 in a 53
Hi, I was wondering has anyone on here ever put it 300-6cyl in their 53-56 ? Reason I ask is I think it would be a different setup and I love to be different :-) plus it is a very good, reliable engine and there are some aftermarket "goodies" available now. Another pre-overhaul dream/idea invades my head I guess..........

I'm with you on "interesting" engine. There are alot of really cool options out there. There used to a be a "T" bucket making the rounds several years ago that was powered by a 300ci. It was very cool. Ever since I was a kid and built the model of the "Red Baron" "T" bucket, I've wanted to build some kind of roadster with a Mopar slant six, or a straight 8.
I think 3 2's might be a bit over carbed for a 6 also, I bet you can get some really small 2 brls and make it work though. It would look just as cool to have multiple one barrel carbs.
You difenatley would want a split header for it. I straight 6 with duals sounds cool

I've kicked around the 300-6 idea for the "dare to be different" factor too. 99% sure I WONT go that route as it's very expensive to BE different!
As for multi-carb's...... I'm pretty sure offenhauser makes a 2X2 set-up ($$$$) and headers are pretty expensive too. I can rebuild the 302 thats in my truck now for less than a performance intake and headers for a 300-6.

I'm looking at a Pro-Charger 300 I-6 for my Speedster project. Google "ford 300 i-6". It will bring up alot of information, there are several really good sites out there.
I ran a 300 in a J/Altered yrs ago, tons of torque and wild launches, I had to go with the GMC brand to get the top end I needed.

Well I guess a guy could always bypass the whole carb setup and go with a fuel injected 300, aka 4.9 Litre for us Canadians :-) .......... use a post 87 or 88 2 piece exhaust manifold .................. hook that to a true dual exhaust system .................. with a couple of magnaflows......nice cold air intake system....... aahhh more dreams and ideas :-) But very high on the "unique/different" factor.
