My dad replaced the one in his work truck a few months ago. It didnt last but a day til it tore up. Brought it back and got another one and its been fine ever since. I had to replace mine this past weekend and its been holding up. They're remans from Advance Auto.... Came out to something like 125.00

skidford I have had 2 napa pump go bad inside of 16k miles. first one i caught just as the seal started leaking the second i didn't catch it and it seized and took out my belt. I put the third replacement on it just a week (3 weeks ago) before i sold the truck so I am not sure how it is holding up. There are only a few companies out there that supply the reman pump so chances are they are the same one. I know napa and carquest are the same. I can't remember the name of the rebuilders for napa's pump.

But anyway you are not alone in your vacum pump problems!

If you are having trouble with multiple pump failures you maybe getting contamination into the vacuum line going to the pump. Also if the pump sheds parts internaly they could be sucked back into the line

its not the pump diapham that has the problem its the drive mechanism. The pulley is turned by the belt and that shaft drives a cam which runs the pump. Its the seal and bearing that are going not the pump part of the unit.
