Driveline question??

Driveline question??
Im in the process of building a rock/offroad rig. its a 92 explorer. The power plant is going to be a supercharged 3.8l from a thunderbird supercoupe. d44 front and ford 9in in the rear. havent decided on gears yet.
My question is what transmission / transfer case would be a good set up or would be a working combo.
I have the stock tc from the explorer. think its a b&w 1350. I also have a b&w 1356 from a f-150. What transmission could i use to mate to either of the tc's and have the trans bolt to the 3.8. I want to go with an automatic trans.
This is a area i am fuzzy in. what works with what and waht will work if u swap this or that. does anyone have any info or input.
thanks
Doug

Just my 2 cents, but I am not sure I would use either of those Borg units. These are cases that most remove when they upgrade to something stronger. They also have a gear ratio that is not very desireable for the rocks that you stated you were building for.
Consider an Atlas or something along the custom line, and it will solve your strength issues, as well as create greater options for transmissions.
www.advanceadapters.com will have all of the answers you are looking for.
Sounds like a fun project. Please keep us updated on how it turns out.

i would say the best transfer case you could get would be a divorced np205 but theyre rare, big, and heavy... if you can find one then you can just use any engine and tranny. if not then forget about the 3.8 and put in a real engine, tranny, and transfer case all in one unit out of a 1988-97 f150-f350. if you get a 5.0 or 5.8 theyll fit with headers, a 7.5 you could probably make fit even... or if you went carb you could put whatever you wanted and only have a half-dozen wires to worry about
