1990 F150 Lariat XLT specifications
I am about to purchase my first truck. It is an 1990 F150 XLT Lariat. It has a 5.0 liter engine, power windows, door locks automatic trans, no rust, 78,000 miles and was driven only on paved roads to and from work. A friend of mine, who has had trucks for years says it is "A Cherry". Since I do not know much about these vehicles, I would like to know where I can start to find out what the specifications, features are regading this truck. Information that is in a product brochure would be fine. Can anybody "steer" me in the right direction.
Thanks

You can find a lot of info about 1990 F-150 specifications in both the 1990 F-series brochure, and a 1990 F-series owner's manual.Another good source would be a 1990 light truck shop manual. You can find all these items without a problem. The brochure can be found online from various vendors who sell older literature(and I think I've seen a few brochures for 1990 trucks on ebay, recently). The 1990 owner's manual&shop manual(s) can be purchased new through Helm,Inc.Their website is helminc.com You can also usually find these items, used on ebay. The data sticker, located inside the driver's side door jam,and your truck's VIN can provide you with some infomation, such as engine size, the plant at which is was built,DSO code-what part of the country it was sold to(the dealership's area),axle ratio, paint&trim combination,GVW,etc.A 5.0L V-8 will have a 'N' in the 8th digit of your VIN.The sticker inside the door jam will have the codes for the transmission, and axle ratio. You can even contact the Ford Customer Assistance Center, and ask them for some info about your '90 F-150.If you supply them with your truck's VIN they can research it,and get you a build sheet, plus break down the VIN code for you.I called their 1-800 number just over two weeks ago,to get info on my 1990 Bronco. The person I talked with said they'd research it,and I should get all the info I requested on my Bronco within 2-4 weeks, via mail.I should be getting it soon.I've heard they can also tell you what dealership originally sold your vehicle, and if you go to the original selling dealership, you can get a copy of the vehicle's window sticker.I'm going to try that next for my Bronco.Good luck with your '90 F-150.It sounds like a really nice ride.
