1997 F-150 odometer problems

I have a 1997 150 with a 5.4 liter, as it was in the process of rolling over to 90,000 miles all of a sudden the odometer stopped working, the trip odometer also has stopped working. Anyone have suggestions on where I should start?
Thanks for any help

did it actually stop or did it blank out? Mine blanks out every now and then and there is a thread on that. But when mine blanks out it still adds miles to it.

I have a 93 T-Bird that just quit working as well only thing is it was at 162000mi, speedo still works fine though! Here is what I found about the Bird's problem online, may be similar.

I'm in the process of trying to find a fix for it that is reasonably priced, so far the cheapest I have found is in the neighborhood of $60 (different site from the one above), and that's just for the two small gears. If I were to pull out the cluster and send it in they charge $195. Seems there are quite a few models such as Audi, BMW, etc. that have the same problem.

I get the impression it's another supplier problem! Ford needs to get on the stick with these suppliers of theirs.

This should help you fix the problem. Good luck!

My '97 has a mechanical odometer. Is that what you have?
