Question Tightering the pinion nut

It's a 8.8 rear on a 1994 F-150
Somobody, anybody know the torque on the pinion nut and the socket size. I just change the u-joins and still do that loud knock whe I put it on gear; So I'm going to try tightering the pinion nut to see if I can get away with it.

usually if the the rear end has that much slack tightening the nut will only pull the pinion away from the ring gear ,causing more clearance.

Not to mention too much load on the bearing, which would shorten its life.

What the problem is it needs a new crush sleave, and if your lucky the bearins will be ok if you do it soon.

it can actually take about 350 -400 ftlbs of torque on that pinion nut with new crush sleeve, you better be able to have the truck up on the lift to get the clearance to put a mother of a torque wrench on that pinion nut.
